Miami Man Now Charged in Murder of Second Woman

Juan Carlos Hernandez-Caseres, 37, is facing two first-degree murder charges

A man accused of murdering a woman and dumping her body on a Miami street is facing a second murder charge after authorities say he killed another woman and dumped the body on the side of the road back in March.

Juan Carlos Hernandez-Caseres, 37, is facing two first-degree murder charges in the killings, Miami-Dade Police say.

Hernandez-Caseres was arrested Saturday in the killing of 42-year-old Ann Farran, whose body was found near Northwest 25th Avenue and 38th Street early Wednesday morning.

Hernandez-Caseres told police he met the victim for "the purpose of offering money to pay for sex," an arrest report said. According to Hernandez-Caseres, the pair started arguing and he became enraged, punching the victim in the throat and neck. He then told police he left the woman's unconscious body on the sidewalk.

The cause of death was determined to be strangulation, according to the Miami-Dade Medical Examiner.

Police say Hernandez-Caseres is also responsible for the killing of 38-year-old Neidy Roche, whose body was discovered in the 3000 block of Northwest 26th Avenue on March 2. Roche, who was homeless and a prostitute, was pronounced dead at the scene and was later determined to have been choked to death, an arrest report said.

According to the report, surveillance footage showed a suspect park a car on the street, get out and crouch down. The body of Roche was found in the swale several minutes later, and it was later determined she had been strangled, the report said.

The report said detectives were able to take a DNA sample from a Coke can Hernandez-Caseres had used, and that it matched DNA found on Roche's body.

Police said Hernandez-Caseres later confessed to both killings.

Hernandez-Caseres appeared in court Monday where he was ordered held without bond and appointed a public defender. Prosecutors announced they would be seeking the death penalty for Hernandez-Caseres.
