Miami Officer Collides with Car, Both Hit Fire Hydrant

A Miami Police Officer is recovering from a concussion Friday morning after colliding with a car late Thursday, causing both cars to slam into a fire hydrant.

Gallons of water spewed into the air at Northwest 15th Avenue and 62nd Street around 11 p.m. Thursday.

Police say the officer in the cruiser hit another car, causing both cars to knock the fire hydrant off base.

The other driver was not injured. The officer was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.

It took fire crews nearly an hour to shut the water off.

The crash remains under investigation.
