A Miami police officer is in serious condition this morning after she lost control of her squad car and collided with a pickup truck last night, police said.

The accident happened near NW 20th St. and 18th Ave. as the officer was trying to reach another officer who needed emergency assistance in catching a stolen car suspect.

The officer, whose name was not released, lost control of her car and struck a F-150 truck.

The officer was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center in serious condition. The truck driver was treated for minor injuries and released at the scene.

Police are waiting to speak with the officer and are talking to witnesses to determine how the officer lost control of her car.
