Miami Police blew up two suspicious devices that were found near SW 37th Avenue and Bird Road Wednesday afternoon.

“What we were hearing were that they appeared to be cellular phones wrapped in aluminum foil, and indeed that’s what it was," Miami Police spokeswoman Kenia Reyes said. "Our bomb unit arrived here on the scene, they detonated both devices, and that’s what it appeared to be”

Police were called shortly after 4 p.m. about the devices, which were found two blocks away from each other. Traffic was rerouted in the area while police investigated, using a robot on the streets.

“What’s important here is that anyone that perhaps saw a little more as to who left these two devices is urged to immediately phone police," Reyes said.
