Miami Police Investigating Little Havana Shooting

A man is recovering after being shot in Little Havana, according to Miami Police.

Officers responded to the 900 block of Southwest 5th Street around 4:30 a.m. Saturday. Dispatch received a 911 call that a man appeared to have been shot and was laying on the ground.

Miami Fire Rescue transported the victim to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center where he underwent surgery and was listed in stable condition. 

According to detectives, the victim was confronted by a group at 1012 Southwest 4th Street. They reportedly pointed guns at him and then fired, striking him numerous times.

Police said it appears the victim ran away from the initial scene and then collapsed on 5th Street.

Miami Police are searching for the shooters. The motive is unknown.

"[We need the] community's help. We need to know indeed who are the ones that shot at this man and why," said Kennia Fallat with Miami Police.
