Miami Shores Streets Flooded After Hit-and-Run Driver Hits Fire Hydrant

A hit-and-run driver left behind a watery mess after they struck a fire hydrant in Miami Shores then fled the scene Tuesday morning.

The incident happened in the area of 96th Street and 10th Avenue, officials said.

Footage showed water gushing from the hydrant and the street flooded as firefighters responded to the area.

One man said his garage was flooded before workers were able to stop the water from flowing.

"We just moved out, we're remodeling the house again, and I'm sitting there getting ready to take the kids to school and I"m watching a picture of my house on TV and I ran down here," Ken Lund said. "It just got soaked."

Authorities said they're investigating the incident. Officers said they couldn't find smashed glass or car parts near the hydrant, keeping the suspect vehicle a mystery.

"I think I gotta call my insurance company," Lund said.
