Miamians Gather to Watch Obama's Second Inauguration

Hundreds flock to Adrienne Arsht Center to watch swearing in of president

    Hundreds of Miami citizens flocked to the Adrienne Arsht Center to watch the second inauguration of of President Barack Obama Monday.

    Those in the center watched a simulcast of the President's swearing in and the inauguration parade. The event featured the Carol City Marching Band and a welcome from Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez.

    "This is a day to put aside our differences and come together as a nation," Gimenez said. "Fitting that he is beginning his second term on the day that we honor Dr. Martin Luther King."

    Stephen Kollin was one of the Miami residents who went to watch.

    "I get a little emotional. It was great to be here today," Kollin.

    Florida International University professor, John Bailly, who said he was friend ofInaugural Poet Richard Blanco, also watched from Arsht Center.

    "I think today Richard spoke for America. Many of us in America are in constant pursuit of a perfect union where we all come together as one, and I believe Richard's peom today was a huge step for all of us coming together as one," Bailly said.
