A Davie tow truck driver who vanished without a trace more than a week ago was found safe in Georgia.
Valentino Malloggi, 38, was located in Brunswick and his family had been notified, Davie police announced Tuesday.
Malloggi was found by a police officer walking down a road, officials said.
Detectives said Malloggi's family was making arrangements to pick him up. They did not say how the 38-year-old crossed state lines.
He will be evaluated at a local hospital once he arrives in South Florida. Officials say Malloggi has a history of schizophrenia.
He was reported missing April 16 after his tow truck was found inside a trailer park near the Florida 595 truck stop off Burris Road. It was running with Malloggi’s personal items missing. A GPS inside did not indicate it went anywhere but that location.
Initially, detectives suspected foul play could be involved in his disappearance.
