More than a dozen members of a Pembroke Pines church are back in South Florida. Their mission was canceled after the terror attack in Burkina Faso that killed one of their own.
There were big smiles, signs, huge hugs and heartfelt happiness as the group was welcomed home Wednesday.
The 10-day trip for 15 missionaries from West Pines Community Church in Pembroke Pines was cut short because of an al-Qaeda linked terror attack.
30 people were killed, including a man from Cooper City. Mike Riddering, 45, operated the American Christian mission organization Sheltering Wings and was a youth pastor at Hollywood Community Church.
Riddering cared for nearly 400 orphans and provided assistance to schools and widows. He was headed to the airport to pick up the team from Pembroke Pines when terror struck and took his life.
The West Pines Community Church crew left to share their faith and make a difference. They're back home early and weren't able to do that. But the missionaries said they will go back, because they have unfinished business.
