Mom Stabs Teen Daughter During Fight: Miami Police

A teenager required surgery after being stabbed by her own mother during a fight, according to Miami Police.

Police were called to the scene at 20 Northwest 60th Avenue in Miami on Sunday after reports of a woman being stabbed.

Investigators say Odalys Rodriguez had been arguing with her 18-year-old daughter when the argument escalated into a fight. Rodriguez armed herself with a knife and stabbed her daughter in the stomach and shoulder, according to police.

The teen, Sheila Barbara Sanchez Rodriguez, was rushed to Ryder Trauma Center in stable condition. She required surgery for her stab wounds, police say. She is expected to recover.

Rodriguez, 47, was arrested and charged with one count of battery/aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and one count of resisting arrest without violence.

She was ordered held on $11,000 bond. It is not known if she has hired an attorney.

According to the arrest report, the two had an ongoing dispute about the daughter wanting to leave the house.
