Paul Michael Merhige
Thanksgiving is usually a time when families, no matter how divided, come together. So it's not surprising that Paul Michael Merhige may have been invited to the family dinner in Jupiter that ended in a bloody massacre and has Merhige on the run.
The Palm Beach Post is reporting a source close to the family is saying Merhige's father requested his son be allowed to join the other 16 members of the family for dinner.
The source did not say whether the invitation was extended but Merhige, who lives in Miami, made the trip north with sinister intentions and killed his twin sisters and two other people. Merhige sat quietly through dinner then suddenly opened fire, witnesses said.
He reportedly said while walking out of the house, "I have been waiting 20 years to do this."
On Tuesday, police also released updated photos of Merhige from a Miami ATM just days before the attack. Police are still searching for the gunman, who may still be driving his blue Toyota Camry.
Funeral arrangements have been announced for two of the victims in the shooting, 6-year-old Makayla Sitton and 76-year-old Raymonde Joseph. A public funeral service will be held at Jupiter High School from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.
Twin sisters Lisa Knight and Carla Merhige were remembered at a vigil in Miami on Monday.
