Power, Water Restored for More Than 400 Lauderhill Homes, Businesses

The outage was caused by a private contractor's error.

Power and water have been restored for more than 400 businesses and homes in Lauderhill after an afternoon outage.

The suspension in service was caused when a private contractor's crane knocked into a power and water line in the area of State Road 7 and NW 26th Street, according to a tweet from the Lauderhill Fire Rescue Public Information Officer.

Florida Power and Light Company notified city officials at 4:30 p.m. that power would remain off for a few hours as they worked to replace a utility pole and turn power back on, the city said in a press release. The water main will be repaired after that fix is complete. As of 6:20 p.m., services had been restored.

The quality of drinking water should not be affected, the city said.
