More Than 600 Authors Featured at Miami Book Fair

Calling all bookworms. The Miami Book Fair kicked of an eight-day event Sunday that will host more than 600 authors.

The widely attended literary behemoth will include an appearance by punk poet Patti Smith, Beat poet Gary Snyder, author Ann Beattie and crime writer extraordinaire Richard Price. The Miami Herald reports actors Paul Giamatti and David Strathairn will do a reading of Sophocles. Jon Meacham will discuss George H.W. Bush and news veteran Ted Koppel will talk about the likelihood of a cyber-attack on the nation's power grid and his belief that the U.S. is shockingly unprepared.

The event, now in its 32nd year, runs through Nov. 22 at Miami Dade College in downtown Miami and includes panels and discussions on every subject imaginable.
