The mother of a woman charged with killing her ex-boyfriend spoke out about the case for the first time Thursday.
Nancy Bonilla said she is sad her 22-year-old daughter, Dianelis Fonseca, is in jail charged with premeditated murder. She is also surprised, but is not denying her daughter was involved in this crime against her ex-boyfriend. In Spanish, she said she doesn't know what got in her head.
Miami-Dade Police say 25-year-old Richard Vasallo was stabbed to death by Fonseca and 21-year-old Jose Martin Perez-Sanchez. According to police, Fonseca offered Perez-Sanchez $600 and to marry him to make the Mexican a legal resident. It was a deal that shocked the victim's family when they found out who was arrested for Vasallo's murder.
"It was a big surprise because no one expected her to be involved in the way that she was," Vasallo's uncle said.

According to Bonilla, Fonseca and Vasallo were in a relationship for two years. She said they even lived together, but after breaking up, the two didn't cut ties completely and were talking about getting back together, but Fonseca was still upset about the breakup.
Bonilla visited Fonseca in jail Sunday. She said her daughter was sad, cried, and said she was remorseful.
