Motorcyclist Thrown Over I-95 Overpass in Fatal Crash

A motorcyclist was killed in a violent crash that sent him off his bike and over an Interstate 95 overpass in Miami-Dade late Tuesday night.

The crash happened shortly before 11 p.m. in the northbound lanes of I-95 near Northwest 7th Street.

Witnesses reported seeing the motorcyclist traveling at high speeds and weaving in and out of traffic just before the crash.

"He was driving like seriously out of control," said witness Tia Failey. "I was actually on the phone saying he was going to hurt himself. He was in and out of cars. He was stopping in the middle of traffic and doing stunts.”

According to Miami Fire Rescue officials, the man struck a pole before he was thrown to the street below. When firefighters arrived, the bike was in pieces and still on fire, officials said.

"It wasn’t a pretty sight I can tell you," said driver Mike Mitchell, who tried to help the victim. "I was kind of scared. I never seen a human being dying like that before."

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity wasn't released.

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
