Motorcycle Crash Causes Pilates Studio Fire

A biker is in critical condition after he lost control of his motorcycle and plowed into a Pilates studio in Miami Tuesday night.  

 

Officials say the motorcycle was traveling at high speeds when it crashed into Sanctuary Seven Studio at Southwest 3rd Avenue and 13th Street around 9 p.m.  

 

Not only was the motorcyclist injured on impact, his bike caught fire and quickly spread into the studio, causing fire and smoke damage as well as minor structural damage.

 

"Everything we have is in this building so it's a real hard thing," said studio owner Nicole Perkovich, who received a burglary alarm to the building and was overcome with emotion after surveying the damage. "We built this place, we've owned it now for four years...so to walk in there and see every single thing..."

 

The driver of the motorcycle was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital and was in critical condition.
