Munawar Toha Convicted in Wife's 2010 Murder

Munawar Toha was found guilty of first-degree murder.

A Coral Springs man was convicted Wednesday of murdering his wife.

Munawar Toha, 67, was found guilty of first-degree murder in the 2010 death of Surya Toha.

Police said Surya Toha disappeared after she dropped the couple's two young kids off at school on March 23, 2010. Days later, her body was found inside her car in a Pompano Beach lake. Detectives said surveillance cameras showed Munawar Toha shoving the car into the lake.

In 2012, Munawar Toha was found guilty of attempting to hire a hit man to kill four witnesses in the case.

Munawar Toha has been behind bars since his arrest in April 2010. He had pleaded not guilty in the case.
