Lockdown Lifted After Shooting Near Two Southwest Miami-Dade School Campuses

Two school campuses in Southwest Miami-Dade had a lockdown lifted after a shooting nearby sent two people to the hospital.

Officials said no students were involved in the shooting near Coral Reef Senior High School - located at 10101 SW 152nd Street - and Richmond Middle School at 15015 SW 103rd Avenue, but the schools remained locked down as a precaution.

Also affected is Bio Tech, which is located on the same campus as the middle school. Officials also closed 152nd Street between SW 100th and 102nd Avenues during their investigation.

Officials say 27-year-old Elena Diaz approached a Miami-Dade Schools officer and said she had been shot - later, she pointed across the street at 31-year-old Richard Acosta who also had been shot. Police say the original shooting took place at SW 112th Avenue and Booker T. Washington Street.

Both were taken to Jackson South Hospital, where they are listed in stable condition. Police have not released any information on any possible suspect they are looking for.
