New I-595 Ramp Opens Monday

The Florida Department of Transportation will re-open the westbound I-595 ramps at Nob Hill Road

At 5 a.m. tomorrow morning, the westbound I-595 ramps will reopen between Pine Island Road and Nob Hill Road.

This new bridge is half of a braided pair of ramps constructed to relieve congestion and eliminate weaving on the interstate.

"We just want to remind motorists how important it is to pay attention to the signs and look for these changes as they use the new braided ramps," said Paul Lampley, the Florida Department of Transportation's I-595 Project Manager. "Opening the new on ramp and bridge will create a new traffic pattern which will look very different than what motorists expect to see."

Crews will be working through Sunday night to open the new ramps and realign travel lanes on westbound S.R. 84 and I-595 between University Drive and Nob Hill Road.

These ramps were closed back in July  to accommodate the reconstruction in the area as part of the I-595 Express Corridor Improvements Project.
