The Department of Veterans Affairs announced it has chosen its new director of Miami's regional VA health care network, The Miami Herald reported.

Paul M. Russo, who currently serves as the director in Salisbury, N.C., will take over the Miami network within the next two months. He has been in the health profession for 30 years.

As director of the network, Russo will oversee a $478 million budget that will serve more than 57,000 veterans in the area, the newspaper reported.

Russo will replace Mary Berrocal, who retired in November.

The Miami VA healthcare system was recently in the news after alleged dirty colonoscopies were performed on patients.
