New Sex Abuse Lawsuit Filed Against Archdiocese of Miami

Another sex abuse lawsuit has been filed against the Archdiocese of Miami.

The lawsuit was filed on behalf of a man calling himself "John Doe."

He says he was molested in the late 1980's by Father Harry Ringenberger at St. Maxmilian Kolbe Church in Pembroke Pines, when he was 14.

John Doe said he reported the incident, but charges were not filed.

He said he recently learned that Ringenberger went on to work at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Fort Lauderdale for more than 20 years.

The lawsuit accuses the Archdiocese of putting other kids in danger by assigning Ringenberger to another parish despite the accusations.

The Archdiocese released a statement, indicating they did report an allegation of inappropriate behavior by Father Ringenberger to law enforcement in 1989.

According to the statement, Pembroke Pines police found no evidence of criminal wrongdoing.

The statement goes on to say, "Once the investigations were concluded, Father Ringenberger requested a sabbatical to deal with health and family issues. Upon his return, he served as a parochial vicar at St. Pius X until his retirement in 2014."
