New Video Shows Shooting in Aventura Mall Parking Garage

New video has been released of a police-involved shooting that happened in the parking garage of a busy South Florida mall on May 13.

Dashcam video from an Aventura Police officer's patrol vehicle captured officers pursuing the suspect in a stolen sedan, when he crashed and the officers were forced to fire.

That suspect, who was struck in the arm, is now awaiting trial.

The scene looked like something out of a Hollywood movie but the danger was real with civilian shoppers in the Aventura Mall parking garage.

Police said Kenneth Taylor, 19, was the man behind the wheel. Officers responded to the garage when they believed he was driving a stolen vehicle.

It was parked on the second floor of the garage at Bloomingdale's.

Police said Taylor tried to run over one of their officers, who fired one round, and that's when the chase began. It ended when a police SUV cut off Taylor and Aventura officers converged on the sedan, giving instructions to Taylor and his female passenger to exit the vehicle.

Taylor was seen on the ground, officers above him with their weapons drawn, and he ultimately was handcuffed and taken into custody.

He faces charges of aggravated assault on a police officer, grand theft auto and resisting arrest with violence.

Taylor has entered a not guilty plea.

The officers weren't injured but the video clearly shows the danger to the officers and shoppers who were either driving or heading to and from their vehicles when the drama took place.
