Police have arrested a north Florida woman in connection with a spree of chain saw thefts.
The Putnam County Sheriff's Office reports that 28-year-old Bettie Joanne Mitchell is being held on four counts of larceny and two counts of resisting an officer.
Authorities say four chain saws were stolen from a Lowe's store in Palatka over three days. The chain saws were worth about $1,296.
The store's manager identified Mitchell after reviewing surveillance tapes of the thefts. He recognized her from previous encounters.
Deputies say they saw Mitchell entering a vacant home in East Palatka and that she hid in a closet and refused to come out.
