North Miami Police Canvass Neighborhood After Twins Shot

North Miami Police canvassed a neighborhood Tuesday searching for witnesses after twin teen girls were both shot at their home early Monday.

Sisters Widline and Miriame Joseph, both 15, were sleeping when someone opened fire on their home along Northwest 122nd Street and 10th Avenue.

Widline Joseph was shot in her leg. She said Miriame was shot six times. Investigators say they need leads.

"We need your help to solve this crime, we need your help to see who was responsible for shooting and injuring those two 15-year-old girls, we're really pleading with the community to please help us," North Miami Police Maj. Ann Marie Cardona said.

In English and Creole officers want to know what any possible witnesses saw. It was the second time the home has been shot at since July.

Police want people to be on alert to anything that doesn't look right.

"Educate them and anything suspicious that they might see in their neighborhood, please call the police," Maj. Cardona said. "We are out here, we want to be visible, and maintain the community safe."
