Parents and students at a Key Biscayne school are feeling anxious Tuesday after a disturbing and threatening note was found at the school late Monday night.
The note was found at MAST Academy in Key Biscayne and is being investigated by Miami-Dade Schools Police, officials said Monday.
"On April 17, 2015, I will walk into this school and shoot everyone I see," the note said in pencil.
NBC 6 South Florida learned that the note was discovered by a student in the classroom who quickly turned it over to school officials.
MAST is a magnet school that focuses on maritime studies, and is across the street from the Miami Seaquarium.
"A note containing troublesome threats was found unattended in a school classroom," Miami-Dade Public Schools officials said in a statement. "Since the safety of our students is of utmost importance, we take all threats seriously."
