Notorious Florida Burglar Arrested Again in New York

Authorities say a 69-year-old ex-convict who pulled off hundreds of burglaries in Florida is back behind bars in New York after getting caught stealing from an upstate residence.

The Saratoga County Sheriff's Office tells The Post-Star of Glens Falls that John Morgano of Athens, New York, was arrested last week after residents of an apartment complex in Wilton spotted a stranger going into a residence.

He's charged with burglary and is being held in the county jail. Information on his lawyer wasn't available.

Morgano was well-known to Florida law enforcement in the 1980s, when he was linked to an estimated 2,000 burglaries.

After serving time in Florida, the New York City native moved back north after being released. He was paroled last fall after the second of two stints in New York prisons for burglary convictions.
