‘Nun With A Chainsaw' India Pale Ale Released

You may remember a viral image of a nun clutching a chainsaw in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma.

That nun is now the inspiration behind a new India pale ale of “tropical and piney aromas and flavors.”

Appropriately named “Nun With A Chainsaw,” the Due South Brewing Company released the drink on Oct. 20. The beer will be served on draft and in 16 ounce cans.

The Miami nun, Sister Margaret Ann, went viral in September for going the extra mile to clear debris after Hurricane Irma. In full habit, Sister Margaret Ann used a chainsaw to cut down trees and clear roadways near Archbishop Coleman Carrol High School, where she is the principal.

"We just needed to get the trees out of the way so that cars could pass by safely," she said during an interview with MSNBC.

The manager of Boynton Beach’s Due South Brewing Company, Doug Fairall, noted Sister Margaret Ann’s determination to make sure the area was safe.

“When Irma blew through South Florida, one nun in Miami made it her mission to clear debris,” he said in a news release. “This is our tribute to those who had to – and continue to – do what’s necessary in the face of adversity.”

The India pale ale will be available at the brewery starting at noon on Friday.
