Oakland Park Man Beat Ex's New Boyfriend to Death: BSO

A 56-year-old Oakland Park man was arrested by Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies after he allegedly beat his ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend to death before walking away from the murder scene.

BSO said Anthony Dippolito, 56, was spying on his ex-girlfriend and her new man Wednesday night. Deputies said Dippolito had confronted the couple twice and started verbal arguments.

BSO deputies said at around 2 a.m., Dipplito came to the door of the woman’s apartment for a third time and Attie answered the door. BSO said Dippolito forced his way into the apartment after an argument, but the other man convinced Dippolito to leave.

Both men went onto a walkway, when deputies said a fight began. BSO said Dippolito beat the man until he was limp and unresponsive.

"The suspect repeatedly hit the victim in the head and face until he laid on the sidewalk unconscious," said Gina Carter of the BSO. "Once the victim fell, the suspect decided to walk away from the scene of the crime."

Deputies said Dippolito was captured a few blocks away. His keys were found next to the victim’s body.

"I think it's tragic," said neighbor Stacey Sindon. "I think that it's something that you see on TV, but it's never that close to home and it happened closer than I think. It makes you appreciate life a little more."

Dippolito faces a second-degree murder charge for the death.
