Two taken into custody after wild chase in Miami-Dade

One officer was injured and two suspects were taken into custody after a wild police chase through the streets of Miami-Dade Friday morning.

Miami-Dade Police said an officer driving a minivan was conducting a narcotics investigation in the area of Northwest 46th Street and 25th Avenue when he went to stop a man and woman in a blue Mercury sedan.

The car took off, hitting the officer's van as it sped away, police said. A chase ensued, going through Hialeah, before it finally ended at W. 4th Avenue and 19th Street when the officer in the minivan collided with the suspect's car, police said.

The man and woman were taken into custody, and the officer, who suffered minor injuries, was transported to Hialeah Hospital where he's expected to be okay, police said.

The suspects, who were also injured, were not identified and the incident is still under investigation.
