The Miami-Dade Police Department said Thursday that it has decided to discipline the officer who escorted Miami Heat superstar LeBron James to a Sun Life Stadium concert by giving him “informal counseling.”
That is basically the equivalent of a verbal warning, police spokesman Det. Roy Rutland said.
The name of the officer involved is not being released at this time, he said. No further action will be taken, according to police.
Police said previously that the department's policies were violated when the officer provided a motorcycle escort for James to the Justin Timberlake and Jay Z concert last Friday night.
James posted a brief video on Instagram of what he described as a “light police escort on the wrong side of the street.”
