Officials in Broward County are seeking outside help to find what's causing unsafe levels of bacteria on a stretch of beach in Hollywood.

High water readings of bacteria that may cause a stomach flu have been forcing intermittant closures for about two months. The most recent warnings shut down a small stretch of Hollywood beach for the Labor Day Weekend, frustrating venders and vacationers.

The state Department of Environmental Protection inspected the city's wastewater facility and found nothing amiss. Agency officials told the South Florida Sun Sentinel the department hasn't found a connection to any sewage leak or spill.

City officials plan to meet with county health inspectors this week to conduct further water testing.
