A bomb squad responded after an old military device was found in shallow water in the Florida Keys Tuesday.
A man called to report finding the device which looked like a torpedo shortly before 10 a.m. on Knight's Key, Monroe County Sheriff's Office officials said.
Deputies evacuated nearby campsites while the bomb squad and U.S. Navy explosive ordinance disposal team responded. The navy team took custody of the item.
It's unknown exactly what the device is, officials said.
