A 22-year-old man was killed and another hospitalized after a car collided into a concrete utility pole and split in two, police said.

A white Nissan two-door car crashed in the 900 block of SW 145 Avenue around 1 a.m. Sunday, Pembroke Pines Police said.

According to a report, the driver somehow lost control when he was traveling southbound on 145th Avenue, struck the outside curb and rammed into a concrete utility pole.

The passenger was ejected and died on the scene, police said. His name has not been released pending notification of his family.

The driver of the car, 21-year-old Kevin Singh, was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, a report said.

Police said speed may have been a factor in the crash but it is unknown if the driver was under the influence of alcohol.
