One Dead After Parking Lot Fight Leads to Shooting

One man has died after shots were fired in a shopping center parking lot in southwest Miami-Dade.

Miami-Dade Police responded to a Winn-Dixie parking lot in the area of US-1 and SW 104th Street just after 11 p.m. Thursday night.

Police said two drivers got in a verbal dispute in the parking lot. Juan Agriel, 67, got out of his Toyota Corolla with a tire iron in an attempt to assault the other driver, 48-year-old Eric Harris. This prompted Harris, the driver of a Toyota Camry, to shoot. Harris then called police and remained on the scene. Agriel was transported to a local hospital, but later died.

Harris and an unidentified woman were questioned at the scene before being released. They drove off in the Camry, but refused to speak to reporters. The Corolla was towed by police.

Police said all findings will be presented to the State Attorney's Office for review. Charges, if any, are pending.
