One Dead, One Injured After Family Dispute in Homestead

A family dispute in Homestead turned fatal after shots were fired during a heated argument.

Police say one man is dead and another is in the hospital after the shooting, which happened Saturday morning in an apartment on the 15000 block of SW 288th Street.

Family members told NBC 6 the injured man is 25-year-old Bryan Gomez. He and his father-in-law, 53-year-old Francisco Castro, were arguing before shots were fired, according to neighbors. Castro died at the scene. Gomez was airlifted to Ryder Trauma Center with gunshot wounds.

Police say a 2-year-old child and a woman were inside the apartment at the time of the shooting, but neither was hurt in the incident.

Detectives are investigating, and have not yet said how many guns were involved or who opened fire.
