One person is dead and another seriously injured in two separate hit and run incidents in Broward County just 12 hours apart.

The first happened around 10 p.m. Wednesday night on the 900 block of East Sample Rd. in Pompano Beach, when an elderly man using a walker was struck while crossing the street.

The man was crossing over the westbound lanes of Sample when he was hit by a dark-colored, older model Dodge Durango, police said.

The car fled the scene and the man died at the scene.

In the second incident, a pedestrian was hit shortly before 11 a.m. Thursday at the intersection of Commercial Blvd. and State Road 7 in Tamarac.

The unidentified victim was taken to Broward General Medical Center with unknown injuries.

The driver left that scene, too.

Anyone with information on either crash is asked to call Broward County CrimeStoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
