The westbound lane of Broward Boulevard is closed and businesses were being evacuated as Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue responded to a gas leak Tuesday, authorities said.

Firefighters were responding to a leak at 1800 W. Broward Blvd., and the Salvation Army and nearby businesses were evacuated, city of Fort Lauderdale spokesman Matt Little said.

No injures were reported and a haz mat crew was on the scene, he said.
