Deadly Overnight Crash Caused Lane Closures on I-95 SB in Broward

An overnight crash in Hallandale Beach killed one person and caused several lanes of I-95 to be closed during the early morning commute.

The crash took place in the southbound lanes just south of Hallandale Beach Blvd. just after 3 a.m.

According to Broward Sheriff's officials, a black sedan left the road before hitting a light pole, rolling over several times and ejecting the driver into a nearby parking lot.

That driver, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials have not said what caused the car to leave the road and the Florida Highway Patrol is continuing their investigation.

Three lanes of I-95 SB and the onramp from Hallandale Beach Blvd. were closed for nearly five hours as a result.
