Panthers Blown Out in Minnesota

The Panthers were easily beaten 5-1 by the Wild on Tuesday in Minnesota

The Florida Panthers were dominated by the Minnesota Wild in a 5-1 loss on Tuesday at Xcel Energy Center.

This game was the first on a three-game road trip and dropped Florida's record to 13-13-4 on the season. The Panthers now lost five of their last six games and have struggled overall under interim head coach Tom Rowe.

Florida had chances to score goals, but could only convert once. The Panthers went 0-5 on their power play advantages in the game. The Wild had one power play and with just 20 shots on goal, Minnesota did the most it could with the few opportunities it had.

Dylan McIlrath scored Florida's loan goal at the 15:36 mark of the first period. The goal was the first for McIlrath as a member of the Panthers and came with an assist from Jonathan Marchessault and Reilly Smith.

Roberto Luongo had a rough night in which he allowed the five goals and made 12 saves. The Wild did not send too many attempts Luongo's way, but found the holes when they needed to. Luongo is now 10-9-2 on the year when serving as Florida's goaltender. James Reimer would replace Luongo late in the third period.

Luongo's counterpart Devan Dubnyk had a big game in the net for the Wild. The Panthers took 26 shots on goal and Dubnyk saved nearly every one of them.

Next up for Florida will be a road contest in Winnipeg on Thursday against the Jets.
