Panthers Claw Back With Four Unanswered Goals

The Florida Panthers completed one of their best wins of the season with four unanswered goals to beat the Montreal Canadiens 4-3 on Saturday.

The win has put Florida on the verge of clinching a playoff berth and has given it 97 points on the year. The Panthers were unable to secure a postseason spot because the Detroit Red Wings also won. Florida remains atop the Atlantic Division, and is seeking the second division championship in franchise history.

When Montreal opened up a 3-0 lead, it appeared that Florida would be on its way to a loss. It took until more than halfway into the second period for the Panthers to get on the board, and the game-winner came about as late as it could. With only four games left to play, the Panthers could be entering the playoffs as one of the NHL's hottest teams. Florida has won four of its last five games and could now have some extra momentum on its side.

The Panthers saw their first score come at the 13:13 mark of the second period when the ageless wonder, Jaromir Jagr scored for the 26th time this year. Jagr's goal had assists on it from Aleksander Barkov and Jonathan Huberdeau.

With only 34 seconds remaining in the middle period, Aleksander Barkov put home his 25th goal of the season to make it a 3-2 game. Barkov's goal had an assist from Aaron Ekblad on it.

Barkov would remain involved in every score as he helped out on the game-tying score that came in the third period. Jonathan Huberdeau's 19th goal of the year came during a power play at the 12:17 mark of the third period. In addition to Barkov, Nick Bjugstad helped with the score.

Continuing his exceptional night, Barkov would score the game winner with only 29 seconds remaining in regulation. The game-winning score had assists from Ekblad and Brian Campbell on it.
