Panthers Put on Show at NHL All-Star Game

The Panthers were well represented at the NHL All-Star Game on Sunday in Nashville

The Florida Panthers received solid performances from three of their stars at the NHL All-Star Game on Sunday in Nashville.

With their head coach Gerard Gallant watching, Aaron Ekblad, Jaromir Jagr and Roberto Luongo all had moments of greatness in a pair of short games. Gallant coached the Atlantic Division team and appeared to relish the opportunity.

In this year's format, the All-Star teams were broken up into divisions in 3-on-3 games. The contests consisted of two ten-minute periods in a miniature tournament involving three games overall.

First up on the day was Gallant's Atlantic Division team against the All-Stars from the Metropolitan Division. The Atlantic would come away 4-3 winners in that opening game with goals coming from both Jagr and Ekblad. In the net for the Atlantic stars in the first period was Luongo who stopped eight of ten attempts.

By advancing to the finals, the Atlantic Division next took on the Pacific Division. The result of this one didn't go so well for Gallant and his team as they fell 1-0. Luongo did his part however stopping all 12 tries sent his way in the first period. The lone goal of the game came in the second period off Ben Bishop of the Tampa Bay Lightning.

With the All-Star festivities out of the way, Florida will now set its sights back on the regular season. The Panthers who sit atop the Atlantic Division with 63 points will take on the Washington Capitals on Tuesday evening.
