Panthers Tally Six Goals to Halt Skid

The Panthers ended a three-game losing streak with a barrage of six goals on Thursday

The Florida Panthers put a stop to a three-game skid with a 6-2 win over the Ottawa Senators on Thursday.

Entering Thursday's action, Florida had lost five of its last six games and had stumbled into a precarious position in the Atlantic Division. After leading the Atlantic for several weeks, the Panthers found themselves in third place upon starting this one.

Determined to turn things around, Jaromir Jagr gave the Panthers the first lead of the game at the 13:07 mark of the first period. Jagr's 22nd goal of the year had assists on it from Jonathan Huberdeau and Brian Campbell.

Florida did a lot more scoring in the second period when it added three goals in a span of roughly four minutes. The attack from the Panthers brought ovations from the crowd in Sunrise, and renewed optimism for the stretch drive. Ottawa scored twice during the barrage of goals, but Florida was quick to answer.

First up was Jussi Jokinen's 13th goal of the season at the 5:52 mark. With assists courtesy of Erik Gudbranson and Vincent Trocheck, the game was once again led by Florida following an Ottawa goal.

A few minutes later, Aaron Ekblad gave Florida back the lead following another Ottawa score. Ekblad's 14th goal of the season was helped by Trocheck and Jokinen. A mere 14 seconds would then pass before Huberdeau put home his 12th goal of the season. That score which was unassisted gave Florida a two-goal lead.

Jagr's day was not complete as the veteran added another goal during the third period. Jagr's 23rd goal of the season had an assist on it from Trocheck, who ended up with three assists in this win.

Trocheck would go on to add a goal of his own after helping out his teammates. Trocheck's 20th goal of the season had an assist from Reilly Smith on it.

The Panthers will host the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday at 7 p.m.
