The Panthers beat the Red Wings 4-1 on Saturday for their second win in as many tries

The Florida Panthers beat the Detroit Red Wings 4-1 on Saturday for their second win in as many tries.

Florida is now 2-0-0 on the year and has looked strong in both games. The Panthers have begun the year shorthanded due to a number of key injuries, but they have not allowed that to slow them down. Florida has also played two teams that are expected to contend in New Jersey and Detroit.

Vincent Trocheck got Florida on the board fast with his goal at the 1:10 mark of the first period. Trocheck was assisted on the goal by Jussi Jokinen.

Roughly nine minutes later, a goal from Colton Sceviour doubled Florida's lead to two. The first goal of the year for Sceviour had an assist on it from Jonathan Marchessault and Denis Malgin.

After being held scoreless in the second period, Aleksander Barkov's second goal of the season gave Florida back a two-goal lead. Barkov was helped out on the goal by Marchessault and Jaromir Jagr.

Marchessault would then add a goal of his own about a minute later with the game winding down. It was an unassisted goal and the second score of the season for Marchessault.

Florida will look to stay perfect on Tuesday when it takes on the Tampa Bay Lightning at 7:30 p.m.
