Parents Tied Up During Scary Home Invasion

Two young children left alone during frightening robbery in Southwest Miami-Dade

A family of four got the scare of their lives early Friday after police say armed robbers broke into their Southwest Miami-Dade home overnight and tied up a mom and dad.

The home invasion happened around 2 a.m. in the 7300 block of Southwest 83rd Street.

Police say three men dressed in black with masks and gloves entered the home while two men waited outside. They pistol-whipped the father in the head then tied the couple up in their kitchen while they ransacked the house.

Two small children, ages 2 and 5, were home at the time, but they were unharmed, police said.

Police are looking for the five men, who fled the scene in a stolen silver truck.

"I was shocked," said Jimmy Culmo, who lives across the street. "I've lived on this street 45 years. Nothing like that has ever happened."
