Detectives are investigating a fatal crash that happened Thursday night in North Lauderdale.
Broward Sheriff's Office says that around 6:20 p.m., a 2013 Hyundai Genesis traveling north on State Road 7 near Southwest 12 Street, collided with a pedestrian.
Timothy Couture, 36, was walking west across the north lane of State Road 7, just north of the intersection, when he was struck. The driver, 23-year-old Kirshna Ramnarine, had the green light when the crash occurred.
North Lauderdale Fire Rescue responded and transported Couture to Broward Health North where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators say excessive speed and mechanical issues don’t appear to be contributing factors in the crash. Authorities suspect Couture was impaired. Their investigation continues.
