Families Displaced in Miami Apartment Fire

At least five people have been displaced by an apartment fire in Miami, according to Miami Fire Rescue.

Firefighters responded to the incident at about 1:30 a.m. at 1710 NW 1st Court in Miami. The five adult residents can't return to three of the apartments affected.

The dogs of two families were also displaced.

Officials said the fire started in the downstairs apartment belonging to Larry Dowdell, who went to excercise before the fire.

He noticed something wrong on his way back. He smelled burning.

“I saw the flames coming out the bedroom and I heard a boom," Dowdell said.

“I was basically laying in bed today I looked around smelled my outlet didn’t smelled nothing and I looked out and saw the fire," resident Alexandria Brown said. “I really don’t know what happened I just know it happened to one of the lower apartments I don’t know if anyone was home at the time.
