Four Killed After Pick-Up Truck Slams Into Minivan In Delray

Four people were killed in Delray Beach Saturday night when a speeding pickup truck collided with a minivan waiting to make a turn, according to the Delray Beach Police Department.

The accident happened on South Federal Highway and La-Mat Avenue at around 7:20 p.m., the department said.

Police said the driver of the Chevy Silverado was swerving to avoid traffic when he rear-ended the minivan, sending both vehicles spiraling across the median and into a Buick Encore traveling northbound.

Two people inside the Encore sustained minor injuries, while the four people in the minivan were pronounced dead on the scene.

The driver of the pickup truck had minor injuries and his passenger was transported to Delray Medical Center with apparent non-life threatening injuries, officers said.

The driver is cooperating with homicide investigators, police said.
