Pickpocket Steals Woman's Keys, Car at WalMart: BSO

Authorities are looking for a group of thieves who stole a woman's car after they picked her pocket at a Pompano Beach WalMart.

The theft happened March 16 at the store at 2300 W. Atlantic Boulevard, Broward Sheriff's Office officials said.

Surveillance footage showed the suspects, who appeared to be teenagers, follow the 67-year-old victim around the store.

"I come in and put my key in my pocket, so they saw it," victim Jovanka Rakic said.

At one point, one of the suspects reached into her pocket and stole her keys, and the suspects ran out of the store, officials said. The woman followed them out in time to see them drive away in her Honda Civic.

"He grabbed my pocket and took my key and I was like 'what happened?'" Rakic said. "I wanted to catch him but he was so fast to run out."

The white 2008 Civic was later recovered. Police said it was used in other crimes.

Anyone with information is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
