    Hundreds of students were evacuated from Piper High in Sunrise on Friday as firefighters checked out a gas-leak report, officials said.

    As the incident unfolded, students gathered on fields outside the school to wait, aerial images showed. The evacuation stemmed from a strong odor of gas being reported on campus, the school district said.
