Pirate impersonators got a chance to walk the plank at the National Walk the Plank Championship Saturday in Key West.

The pirate impsonators were judged on their costume, as well as their pleas, plank-walking style and splash. The event attracts hundreds each year, according to the Florida Keys News Bureau.

Returning champion Klaus Chroszielewski, of Baltimore, successfully defended his title in a Santa costume.

The Pirates in Paradise Maritime Heritage and Music Festival also includes parties, feasts, film presentations and sailing excursions. The festviities end on Sunday.
